Vera Cramer Hershenberg

A note from the Artist: "My photography began in college in a darkroom, shooting black-and-white film and learning to see through light, shadow. contrast, and timing. Although I now work digitally, that early discipline still shapes how I photograph today. Over the years, I've explored wildlife, landscapes, portraits, travel, and street photography, but I'm continually drawn back to the street. I'm interested in fleeting, unguarded moments - especially the instant before someone notices the camera and their expression changes. In that brief window, people often reveal something honest: emotion, vulnerability, connection, or presence. I photograph to capture humanity as it naturally unfolds. Whether it's the bond between dogs and their owners or a layered scene on a city sidewalk, I look for images that the stories beyond a single subject. I'm drawn to relationships -between people, animals, gestures, expressions, and the spaces they inhabit. The photographs in this exhibit reflect two sides of that search. Dogs and Their People explore companionship, affection and the quiet ways we mirror one another. The images in Decisive Moments focus on fleeting human expressions and interactions that might otherwise go unnoticed. For me, photography is about paying attention. It Is an act of observation, patience, and connection - a way or preserving small moments that reveal something larger about who we are. Thank you for taking the time to view my work."
